About Provisore
Provisore is the tooling between a PaaS that owns your app and a bare VPS you look after by hand.
A small server at Hetzner costs a few euros a month and runs most applications comfortably. What it lacks is the part a managed host charges for: provisioning, deploys, certificates, backups and monitoring. Provisore adds that part and leaves the server on your account.
We are a small team in Denmark, building the server management tool we wanted for our own work. Laravel, PHP, Node, Swift and static sites all go through the same pipeline, and so do our own products. The control plane is written in Swift on Hummingbird.
What we hold to
- Your servers stay yours
- Cancel and your sites keep running. The machines sit on your own provider account, and Provisore is never in the request path between your users and your application.
- The app has no special powers
- Every action in the app is an endpoint you can call yourself with a scoped token, so the API cannot fall behind the app.
- Boring on purpose
- Two Ubuntu LTS releases, and provisioning scripts you can run a second time on a half-configured server to finish the job. A step that works twice beats a clever one that works once.
